The President's Message

February 2018

I just got a note from John that I haven't written the yet! So here we go. Valentine’s Day will have come and gone by the time you read this. I hope your Valentine was very good to you.

My favorite time of the year is on its way. SPRING! I have many friends who favor fall and winter for the crisp days and early evenings. I, on the other hand, can’t get enough daylight. Come on, warmer weather and long days. Even though I don't stay up until dark, I like the early morning sunshine.

What can I say about out club? It is a great club. I wish more of our members could attend the meetings. It is so nice to get to talk to the various members. It’s a great opportunity to socialize with like-minded people and an equally great way to get your computer-related questions answered and learn what is new and great in the field.

I hear that computers are losing their appeal for home use. Maybe I misunderstood cuz I've also heard that tablets are losing market share. I can't imagine giving up my computer or my tablets. I have a smartphone, and it can do most things a computer can but a lot less conveniently, as far as I am concerned. Even my 2-in-one Asus has limitations. For me, some things are better and easier done sitting at a desk with a big monitor and a printer nearby. I was thinking maybe I am a bit old-fashioned and immediately realized the humor in that. The “old fashioned” computer. Indeed. I can’t think of any product that has improved at lightning speed like the computer nor model for model had a shorter life span for the cost. However, I am totally dependent on my electronics. I suppose I could live without them if necessary, but why would I want to?

Well, enough of my ramblings for the month. Looking forward to seeing all of you on the 24th.
