The President's Message

June 2009

Rick Curry

Hello and let me thank the membership once again for welcoming me into the administration of our club.

June promises to be a busy month. In addition to the beginning of summer, there will be some exciting events at the club. At our monthly meeting June 27, author Akkana Peck ("Beginning GIMP: From Novice to Professional") presenting the GIMP image editor. GIMP is a free image-editing package that can do the job of very expensive software, such as Photoshop. Akkana's web site at http://www.shallowsky.com.

After Saturday's meeting, join us just down the street for lunch at the Texas Cattle Co. Get together with other club participants and chat in a less formal venue.

And Toby is looking at starting his HTML/CSS SIG on the second Thursday of the month, which will make June 11 the kick-off meeting.

Thanks go out to David Harris for his May presentation of Milestones in the History of Personal Computers. I found it interesting, and a little surprising.

If you need a map or more details, remember that you can click on our new calendar at the bottom of our home page at http://www.cipcug.org to find out details and to get a Google map of the location.

We are looking for someone to do an evaluation of the newly released 10-Strike Connection Monitor Pro 1.6, and the Photo Group reminds us that it has changed its format, adding SIGs for beginners, intermediate Photoshop, and portrait photography. Happy summer!
