June has come and gone; 2015 is more than half way over. Have you accomplished half your plans for this year? I know I haven’t. I am writing this on the July 2 so I hope we all have a memorable July 4 celebrating the founding of our country. I sincerely hope our security wonks are wrong about the increased threats this weekend. I’d like to wake up Sunday, July 5, knowing there were no calamities on the 4th, thank you very much.

Another great meeting. Not because I had four winning tickets. I’m sorry, guys; I’m a little bit lucky, but I’ve never won anything from the state lottery. I only took the last prize because it was the doughnuts! I promise.

The meeting was great. Toby and Mike covered “casting.” There were more than the usual wires hooking all this wireless stuff up and making it work. but the promise is that wireless is getting better and better, and casting is the future. I’m still a bit fuzzy about how it all works, so I hope we do this one again so I can catch up. I must say “casting” wasn’t even on my radar. I hadn’t heard of it. I know about “broadcasting.” I worked in that field for 25 years, but this is a whole new concept for me. Makes me think a little of projecting as in projecting a movie on the screen.

That is one of the things I like about these monthly meetings I learn so much. Just listening to the Q and A is enlightening.

Another thing I learned at this meeting is the difference between an app and programs. They are both programs, but each interfaces with the operating system differently. At least that is what I came away with. I hope someone will let me know if I misunderstood.

Looking forward to the next meeting, and I hope you will be there. Bring friends and neighbors.

Happy computing!
