"Promoting the Harmony of Computer Education, and Camaraderie"

I would like to honor Jerry Clark. He passed away October 30th of cancer. He was the president of the Long Beach Computer Club (LBCC) and the Southwest Computer Conference's Tech Advisor (THESWCC.) He and his wife, Judy, always provided additional entertainment and fun with their energy and since of humor. He was one of the many people we looked forward to seeing at the conference. I'm going to miss him. His family has requested donations to any charity instead of flowers and I'll be sending one.

I strongly recommend the conference. It is educational and like our club full of friendly and helpful people. I've been attending for a few years and worked as a volunteer for the last 2. It is at Cal Poly Pomona in June. Judy Taylour and her group of volunteers provide a professional quality conference. The entire conference is run by volunteers. Judy and her team are impressive at soliciting sponsors and professional quality presentations. Note: If one club member attends, any member of the club can enter the photography contest and they have several categories. You do not need to be present to win.

The holidays are upon us. I hope everyone is surrounded with the good family and friends. Thanksgiving is a time of appreciation. I try appreciated life in general. I'm grateful and humbled by all of it. Several years ago, my parents had a stove installed and it didn't go as smoothly as we thought it would. Mom had planned a big family dinner to try it out. (Note to self: Never plan the installation and the party for the same day.) As grandchildren arrived and the gathering got louder and louder, I apologized to the installers. They smiled and said this is a house full of love. It is my hope all of our membership have the same warm of family and friends. (Note: Family doesn't need to be related by blood.)

I noticed a few stores are talking about Black Friday week. I'm hoping to take advantage of it. I've been thinking about upgrading my husband's tablet. He has already mentioned what he'd do with his current one if I upgrade it. (Am I that predictable?) I strongly recommend keeping an eye on the ads this season.

I would like to remind our members to be certain they update their Mozilla applications, such as Firefox. I've seen a Mozilla alerts this week and all of the issues are resolved by updating to the current version. Also, I'm still seeing Adobe alerts telling us to update to the most current version.

Happy computing!
