Halloween has passed, daylight standard time followed in a few hours and Thanksgiving is only a couple of weeks away. Mother Nature seems not to have gotten the message. Where is fall?

The new year is just around the corner. Time for new beginnings. I have brought up the idea of going to electronic delivery of TOE a number of times. I’m thinking sometime in the first quarter would be a good time. I am inviting you to send your comments regarding this change to me at president@cipcug.org.

We currently have 166 members. To keep using the bulk mailing rate we must send out at least 200 copies of TOE a month. John's mailing list is 211. So we are sending out 43 extra copies to nonmembers each month. Some are other user groups and some are libraries.

Our costs include the printing, shipping and postage. TOE and the monthly room rental for our meetings are our major expenses. We have been running a deficit for some time now and cannot continue to do this for long. Something has to give, and TOE is the most logical choice.

All other organizations I participate in have faced the same challenge. All finally had to go electronic. We must do it, too, but I am asking you, our members, for input. As you may know, every issue of TOE is on our website already. When we go electronic, we can use color, include more articles and pictures and perhaps include a classifieds section or other benefits. If you have ideas, please let me know.

I am shooting for March or April to make the change. This should give us ample time to make some decisions.
