The Next Meeting
The CIPCUG Linux SIG will meet the fourth Thursday of the month from 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Ventura County Computers. Bill Wayson will be moderating these meetings. Please
check the
SIGINFO for specific details of the SIGs. You can also check
here for directions to the meeting.
What Is This SIG, Anywho?
The Linux SIG of CIPCUG serves to provide a forum where you can learn more about
Linux
and other
Open Source Software
operating systems and programs. If you are seeking alternatives
to closed-source commercial software; are tired of system crashes and
regular reboots; wish to reduce your exposure to viruses and worms; or
just want to see what the bruhaha is all about, this SIG is for
you. Join us on the fourth Thursday of every month at Ventura
County Computers.
Do not worry if you consider yourself a Linux newbie. We were all
newbies at one point, and some of us still are. Our participants span
the full range of Linux use and knowledge. We come together, with a
common interest in Linux, to help each other out and to learn from each
other. If you want to learn something about LINUX, the CIPCUG
Linux SIG is for you.
Moreover, if you've actually done anything with your Linux system, or
found out something interesting, come on in and let us know about
it. If you are interested, you can even give a presentation to
the group.
Meeting Day and Time
The Linux SIG meets on the fourth Thursday of every month at Ventura
County Computers (
see map). Meetings begin at 6:30 PM with a period of
conversation (including gossip, news, and questions). This is a
good time to bring your Linux problems, your questions, your broken
systems, and get some help. Those new to, or unsure about Linux
are especially encouraged to come for this early part of the
meeting, where their questions are center stage. Formal
presentations begin shortly afterward.
