The above box had 282 un-useable cartridges which had to be separated from the 70 usable cartridges. The un-useable cartridges cannot be dumped in our trash, they must be disposed of at the Oxnard Recycle Center.
It would help me considerably if the following suggestions were followed, concerning print cartridge recycling.
Please donate only original manufactured cartridges, not those that have already been refilled or have been re-manufactured. They cannot use them if they have already been re-filled once.
Important: When you remove your old cartridge from the printer, you take the new cartridge out of the white box and replace it in your printer. Then, take the empty cartridge that you have removed from the printer and put it in the empty white box. DO NOT INCLUDE THE OUTER BOX BECAUSE IT TAKES UP EXTRA SPACE and has to be discarded before placing them in a box for shipping. This protects the cartridge and prevents the print head from being damaged during shipping. It also keeps them from leaking ink (especially those donated in baggies) all over the place. I have to be extremely careful when packing those that are not in boxes, to prevent damaging the print heads.
Because some were not put in boxes, they were damaged when I received them and had to be thrown away along with many that were not original. We had a large box of throw-aways.
The only ones that can be used are those with copper print heads. Common ones are: HP and LEXMARK and some Cannon. There are very few non-copperhead cartridges which are acceptable, as pictured below. The copper print heads are becoming scarce, so therefore they are paying $3.00 each for them. Please continue to help the club by donating your copper print head ink cartridges and help me by following the above suggestions.
