Programs
Our regular meetings are generally held the fourth Saturday of the month at Camarillo Boys and Girls Club, however; there are exceptions to the rule (mainly we hold the November and December meetings on the 3rd Saturday because of Thanksgiving and Christmas). Therefore the meeting dates are listed to the right for the next four months. The address is 1500 Temple Avenue (northeast corner of Ponderosa Dr. and Temple Ave., Camarillo, California. The meetings are from 8:15 AM to Noon. See map to right for directions.
May 2019 Program

How to handle your recordings and how to make identical copies of your vinyl for use on your computer or other eletronic device. Andy has been doing the for many years and has become proficient in the process. This is a "must-see" event and will be a two program show.

- JAN Michael Shalkey and Toby Scott discuss the Meltdown and Spectre vulnerability, along with all the failed patches.
- FEB Toby Scott discussed computer search tools, in particular improvements to the search on Office programs and Windows Explorer.
- MAR Bob Gostischa visited us once again and gave us a treasure trove of security insights. Here are his links and notes:
- APR Detective Tim Lohman from the Financial Crimes unit of the Ventura County Sheriff's Department presented a program on scams and how to protect yourself from them.
- MAY Michael Shalkey and Toby Scott talk about VPN (Virtual Private Networking), what it is; the difference between installing it on a router, computer or browser and the difference between paid and free versions.
- JUN Toby Scott showed how to setup email on the new mail server as well as discussing the advantages/disadvantages between POP3 vs. IMAP email as well as between browser email vs. program (Outlook, Thunderbird) email.
- JUL Michael Shalkey presented a program on the Amazon Fire Cube, a hands-free device controlling device. Using just voice commands you can turn on or off the TV, change channels, dim the lights, play music and tons more. No longer do you need a drawer full of confusing remote controls to handle things. Just talk to your Cube.

- JUN Michael Shalkey presented a program on how hackers are attacking users and computers -- mostly by tricking someone into doing something stupid.
- JUL Toby Scott presented on LastPass, a free password management program that syncs all your devices and passwords and even lets you selectively share passwords with family or co-workers.
- AUG Toby Scott presented on OneNote, the best Keeping Track of All the Crap You Didn't Know What To Do With
- SEP Bart Koslow on Using Computers for Security Investing (see link)
- OCT Bart Koslow presented his favorite sites for security investing. Lots of tools and sites for helping improve investing results.
- NOV Michael Shalkey and Toby Scott presented a program on blockchain currencies, like BitCoin and Ethereum. At the time of the program BitCoin was nearing $1,000. Within a couple of weeks, it had crossed $15,000. Talk about a timely program.
- DEC Michael Shalkey and Toby Scott presented a program on disaster preparation for computer users.
